The perfect Australian knob for your classic car

If you’re like me, there’s never a moment when the garage doesn’t have a project car on the go.

While original accessories and equipment can be hard to come by, there are some cool ways to accessorise your classic car without deviating too far from the classic feel. So how about a handmade Australian knob crafted in regional Victoria?

Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now.

These handmade shifter balls are made from Australian Jarrah and American Oak wood, Redgum or Birch Ply in a workshop in the regional Victorian town of Ballarat.

Balls by Pamo is a family business run by Australian furniture maker Hamish Govan, who also has a garage full of ‘work in progress’ restorations, specifically air-cooled Volkswagens and Porsches – I also spotted an old Holden on Hamish’s Instagram, but won’t hold that against him.

The handmade gear knobs start from $160 for the Birch Ply and Redgum varieties, stepping up to $180 for the Jarrah and American Oak varieties.

Check out the Balls by Pamo website for more details on pricing and delivery, and while you’re at it, you can have a look at Hamish’s Instagram page that includes images of some of the restoration projects currently underway (yes, that’s a yellow 914 Porsche you see there).

If you’ve got any other left-of-field Australian car businesses we should know about, let us know in the comments section below. We’d love to let everybody know about them.
