A Garden Stroll in Lawrie’s Ontario Garden

Hi GPODers!

The joy of gardening is two-fold. First is the enjoyment of the doing. Getting your hands in the dirt to plant and the hours of chores that can be just as meditative and rewarding as they are laborious. Second is the beauty and tranquility of our creations. While a garden is never truly done, it’s essential to carve out time where you can just sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. In today’s submission, Lawrie Morello in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada is sharing a sampling of what she admired during downtime in her garden. Her garden is still very new, but there is already plenty to bring her joy during a leisurely walk around her beds and borders.

What can I say? Flowers bring joy to the soul. I love looking at their intricate details. This is our third year for this garden. We started from scratch. These are some of those blooms. Years ago I submitted a few images of a whimsical teapot and it was featured in your magazine! Thank you for looking!

small blue flowerThe smaller the flower, the closer you need to get to see all of the incredible details that hide within. This singular light blue delphinium bloom wouldn’t catch your attention from a distance, but the way Lawrie captured it allows us to see the subtle tinge of purple and fascinating, fuzzy anthers.

white begoniaThere is so much to admire in these bright white tuberous begonias. From the endless swirl of delicate petals on the double blooms to the rich, deep green leaves with finely serrated edges that somehow look both prickly and fuzzy.

shasta daisiesWhat says summer more than shasta daisies (Leucanthemum × superbum, Zones 4–9) shining in the light of the sun? A garden classic gem that never gets old.

Thank you so much for sharing a slice os your beautiful garden walk with us Lawrie! Your garden photography is just as stunning as the beautiful plants you’ve planted.

I hope you take some inspiration from Lawrie and share some photos of the plants you stop to admire on your next garden stroll.
